    यज्जाग्र॑तो दू॒रमु॒दैति॒ दैवं॒ तदु॑ सु॒प्तस्य॒ तथै॒वैति॑।दू॒र॒ङ्ग॒मं ज्योति॑षां॒ ज्योति॒रेकं॒ तन्मे॒ मनः॑ शि॒वस॑ङ्कल्पमस्तु॥१॥

    यत्। जाग्र॑तः। दू॒रम्। उ॒दैतीत्यु॒त्ऽऐति॑। दैव॑म्। तत्। ऊँ॒ इत्यूँ। सु॒प्तस्य॑। तथा॑। ए॒व। एति॑ ॥ दू॒र॒ङ्गममिति॑ दू॒रम्ऽग॒मम्। ज्योति॑षाम्। ज्योतिः॑। एक॑म्। तत्। मे॒। मनः॑। शि॒वस॑ङ्कल्प॒मिति॑ शि॒वऽस॑ङ्कल्पम्। अ॒स्तु॒ ॥१ ॥

    यज्जाग्रतो दूरमुदैति दैवन्तदु सुप्तस्य तथैवैति। दूरङ्गमञ्ज्योतिषाञ्ज्योतिरेकन्तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु॥

    Acknowledgment

    Purport -

    The Destroyer of obstacles in the path of righteousness O God! May our mind by your grace, be of auspicious resolves. It should perform good and righteous deeds. It should never entertain unrighteous thoughts. What sort of this mind is? In the waking state as well as in the sleeping state the mind of the man flies farther and farther. Infact it is its nature to wander afar. Mind is the illuminator of the illuminating entities like fire, sun and sense-organs like ear etc. Without mind no object can come to light. This very wavering, flickering and agile mind can become stable, pure, righteous and replete with knowledge only by Your Grace. This mind is helpful in realisation of soul, is knower of past, present and future, and truly it is in Your control i.e. it can be controlled only by Your Grace. Bring it to our control, throughly, so that we may never do wrong, never indulge in bad actions, but be always in the pursuit of true knowledge and lead a life of righteousness and remain devoted to you.
